Winter Wedding at a Woodville Winery

I’ll come out and say it—I love a good winter wedding. I love them, even more, when they are at a Woodville Winery in California.

Winter weddings are moody, romantic, and cozy.

They might not check all the same boxes, but they instead offer an intimacy that you might not find during the summer months. Another big perk? Vendors, from caterers to planners to bands often have greater availability outside the traditional wedding season, meaning the odds of booking your dream florist (or photographer!) are that much better.

Nikki and Declan's Winter Wedding at a Woodville Winery

Nikki and Declan’s winter wedding took place at JM Cellars, a modern, family-owned winery in Woodinville, Washington. Surrounded by a seven-acre arboretum, the winery felt like a private lodge nestled in the forest.

Aged barrels.

Twinkling string lights.

Chairs draped in sheepskins.

After the sweetest first look under a rustic arbor outside on the patio, the couple snuck away to the loft above the tasting room for an intimate moment. Sprawled out on a vintage wooden pool table, Nikki and Declan created a wedding memory so uniquely their own.

Surrounded by soft, glowy lighting, the couple prepared to walk down the aisle—the bride in her mother’s earrings and a dramatic, oversized bow in lieu of a veil, and the groom in a custom three-piece suit. Capturing the small details that make a wedding yours is one of my favorite things.

Remember, the beautiful, minute details are what tell your story the best.

Untraditional Traditions

Nikki opted to forgo a bouquet, instead, the ceremony took place surrounded by delicate baby’s breath and simple, flickering candles.

The wedding party was stunning all in black, a look that works especially well for a winter wedding. The reception was equally as beautiful—a winter’s dinner served by Herban Feast on long tables filled with crystal glassware and simple greenery.

Cute details like a pink neon sign proclaiming ‘Til Death and a late-night outfit change for the bride made this dark winter night feel incredibly bright.

With the help of flash photography, capturing the dance party proved worthwhile as well. Nikki and Declan’s small wedding wasn’t short on personality, and I loved capturing the joy of their friends and family celebrating their love.
